The Kaweco Sport (available in “Ice” or Metallic” versions) is a modern pen reminiscent of the vintage Sheaffer Tuckaway. It is very compact when capped, yet the long cap gives it extra posted length. Although the only available nib is medium, it writes a smooth, wet line and its generous tipping allows for a custom grind. The Sport does not come with a clip, but a metal accessory clip is available. The thin diameter of the Sport is too small to be comfortable in my hand for extended writing, but I have big hands and tend towards oversized pens. If you like thinner pens, the Sport is fine. The Sport is designed for short international cartridges only. I normally avoid cartridge only pens, so why did I buy this pen? I wanted a small pen that I could carry when there was no room for larger pens. There are some options. One option is to refill an empty cartridge with a syringe. Another is the Monteverde international syringe converter made for cartridge-only pens. The converter works, but holds very little ink in the Sport. My third option was to use my Sport as an eyedropper filler or buy a modified Kaweco ED from Swisher Pens. The modified Kaweco ED is a Sport that has an o-ring installed at the joint where the section threads into the barrel. The Kaweco ED holds holds plenty of ink. I have heard of people using an unmodified Sport as an eyedropper filler by coating the barrel threads with bees wax, but I have not tried this personally. The Sport is an inexpensive, slender, compact pen that writes well.
Stainless steel nib M only. Capped length, 4"; posted, 5 1/8"; girth, 7/16". Cartridge / converter & eyedropper fill. In Blue, Green, Red and Orange.
